Open the door of Misaki Japanese Restaurant in Hyannis, Massachusetts and feast your eyes on the beautiful display of fresh seafood being artfully assembled on sushi platters for this evening’s diners. Located nearby, it was the perfect choice for our recent Valentine’s celebration and a favorite of sushi lovers all over Cape Cod.
We were seated at a lovely table for two in the lower part of the restaurant, a quieter option than the bustling front bar. The ambiance is subtly zen, with bamboo accents and simple accoutrements. On a raised platform near us were two traditional Japanese seating arrangements for those seeking a more authentic experience. Often we opt for bar seating to watch the sushi chefs create their masterpieces, but this was a special night and the dining room suited our needs perfectly.
The sushi menu is extensive, but there is an abundance of other offerings as well including soups, salads, tempura and teriyaki, and plentiful appetizers. The standout for us is always the Maui Onion roll, a combination of tempura sweet onion, asparagus, seared tuna, wasabi mayo and sriracha. So fresh and so yum.
Take out is always available and, judging by the throng of folks lined up at the register the evening of our visit, a popular choice for locals. Just a 15-minute drive from our Inn, Misaki is a great option for our guests. Dine in or take out and enjoy dinner on our deck. We’ll even provide the chop sticks!
