We are delighted that our Inn has been selected Best Bed and Breakfast in the Mid-Cape area once again. The honor is especially sweet that it is our guests and the readers of Cape Cod Life Magazine that vote each year. We are blessed to have been selected every year since 2020, after our first full year in business on Cape Cod.
I’m not sure if we chose to become innkeepers or if innkeeping chose us, but the journey has been an exciting one. We first landed at an 11-room inn in North Conway, NH in the shadow of Mt. Washington. Our search for the perfect inn began in 2020 after a series of life-changing events impelled us to accelerate our “retirement” plan of running a bed and breakfast inn in our “golden” years.
After many years working for a non-profit educational institute, whose mission was to enhance the professionalism of the travel industry, and various positions in travel and tourism businesses, we felt adequately equipped to handle the vagaries of innkeeping. Opening on 4th of July weekend in 2020, we found the learning curve a bit steep. But after 6 months of ups and downs we settled into the rhythm of running of our own business and found that it suited us quite well.
Now nearly 16 years later and owning a much smaller inn on Cape Cod, we feel seasoned, and, as I tell my current guests, are “getting the hang of it”. Over our years here we have won numerous awards: Top Ten Romantic Inns, Top Ten Inns in the U.S., and even Innkeepers of the Year. We are humbled by these awards, and so grateful that our guests appreciate what we have tried to create here..
