Heritage Gardens One of our most favorite museums to visit is now open for the season. Heritage Museum and Gardens is just a short drive from our Inn and a great way to spend an afternoon surrounded by beautiful gardens and lush landscaping.

New this year to Heritage is the Adventure Park, featuring a challenging course of ropes, planks, cables and platforms to traverse while observing the nature all around you. Opening May 9, the Adventure Park is sure to be a big hit with adventurers of all ages.

The classic car collection housed in the Shaker Round Barn replica near the entrance of Heritage is beyond compare. For a “Behind-the-Scenes” tour of the cars not currently on display, be sure to mark your calendar for May 9th when the curator of the collection will host a rare peek at more than twenty vehicles up close and personal. This tour will be repeated on July 11th,  August 15th, and September 12th as well.

RhodiesThe annual Rhododendron Festival will be held this year from Saturday, May 16th thorough Sunday, May 24th. A whole host of special events are planned for this festival including pruning demonstrations, landscape walk and talk, and rare and unusual rhododendron tours.

Three generations of Wyeths, perhaps one of the best-known American art families, will be this year’s featured artist collection. Entitled “The Wyeths: America Reflected-At a Glance” many of the works on view are from private collections. In residence from June 6 through September 27th the collection highlights N.C, Andrew and Jamie Wyeth.

Heritage will also be participating in this year’s new Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival coming July 11 through 19 to celebrate Cape Cod’s iconic flowers that flourish in the heat of July. Daily walking tours will be hosted at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Even when there is nothing special happening at Heritage, an afternoon spent strolling the grounds, touring the museums, and enjoying the tranquility of the Flume is an afternoon well-spent. Be sure to plan a visit soon.

P.S. Mother’s enjoy free admission on Mother’s Day!
